About Paperclip
Made by Pranav Savla in India
Paperclip is a daily trading puzzle. Every day you start with a red paperclip and a market of traders, and each trader will make one swap, once. Find the shortest chain of trades that gets you to the day’s prize, and watch out for the trades that lead nowhere.
Who makes it
Hi, I’m Pranav. I’m blind, and I use VoiceOver, the screen reader built into Apple devices, for everything, games included.
Most daily puzzles are made for eyes: coloured grids, tiles to drag, pictures to spot. I wanted a puzzle I could play every morning without asking for help, one my sighted friends would enjoy just as much, so we could compare results. I couldn’t find one, so I made Paperclip.
It’s a one-person project. I design it, test every change with VoiceOver, and answer every email myself.
Built for screen readers from the start
- Everything in the game is a real button, list or heading, so VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS can read all of it.
- After every trade, Paperclip tells you what happened and who you can trade with next.
- It works with a keyboard alone, and with touch on phones.
- Sounds are optional, and they never tell you anything the words don’t.
- Sighted players get exactly the same puzzle, laid out as a bright little market.
How Paperclip pays for itself
Today’s puzzle is free for everyone, with no ads, no account and no time limit. A one-time US$2.99 unlock adds unlimited practice, Expert markets, the archive of past puzzles and your full history. That’s what keeps Paperclip going. See pricing.
